Get Involved Donate Your Time March 12, 2006 We need your help... Raise the roof! Come join other volunteers at the build site or serve on a committee. If you want to volunteer, we’ll find the right position for you! Choose from the following: The hands-on work of the volunteers in partnership with new homeowners builds homes and builds community. Habitat partner families invest hundreds of hours of sweat equity on their homes and other Habitat sites. Donations of materials, funds and labor will allow Missouri Valley Habitat to sell finished homes for a reasonable price with no interest. The monthly mortgage payments are reinvested into the next Habitat house project. Raise the roof! Come join the work site or be on a committee: Family Selection - understanding of a credit report, ability to work with diversity in economic situations, good communication skills. Family Support - good communication skills, build a rapport with the family, liaison between family and Habitat. Volunteer Relations - good "people skills", able to work with diversity, familiarity with community resources & potential volunteer sources. Construction - knowledge in carpentry, general contracting, architectural engineering, electrical or plumbing trades. Fundraising - grant writing knowledge, researching donor sources, creative fundraising & publicity ideas, long-term planning. Public Relations - public speaking, good "people skills", assembling press releases & public service announcements, good writing skills. Site Selection - real estate networking, basic construction knowledge. Church Relations - desire to work with congregations, clergy, homeowners, organizes 2 Habitat events. At The Worksite - to volunteer for the worksite you must be: At least 14 years old Unskilled or skilled Volunteers come from all over the state and even beyond our borders to help with the construction and the critical behind the scenes work to make our local affiliate successful.
